Carry Murphy of Yaxley Runners was the winner of the 1st leg of the 2015/6 Harrier League held at Lynch Wood last Wednesday.
Murphy appears to be a great advertisement for the benefits of resting, as she finished in a time of 22.45 just 1 second off her PB despite not having trained for 6 weeks.
Sam Whitmore of Eye Community Runners was 2nd over the line with a 22.22 clocking, whilst his team mate Mick Davies came home 3rd in 23.44.
Prizes are awarded at the end of the series for the fastest male and female runners, and Bushfield Jogger Phil Martin set the pace in the men's stakes coming home in a time of 16.59.
Paul Halford of Werrington Joggers was 2nd in 17:12, but both athletes can expect to improve on these times as the series progresses.
Nene Valley's cross country ace, Nicky Morgan, was 1st lady home in 20:03 a full 2 minutes quicker than the 2nd fastest lady, Yaxley's Claire Piercey.
